North Bali, or better Singaraja or Buleleng is different from the rest of Bali or should i say from the south part f Bali. Most people have heard about about Lovina and Singaraja (former capital), but considering it as an area to go on vacation, or even own a Bali villa is not something that people do first.

Lifestyle is different then it is in the south, more laid back, a bit simpler. Villas and houses, and specially beach villas are usually more affordable and larger then they are in South Bali. And that is why in the North Area of Bali, especially around Lovina many expatriates have bought or build a private villas with beachfront access or beach view.

One of the Bali property in north Bali is The Residence which is located at the north coast of Bali approx. 20 km from Singaraja to the east. The Residence is constructed on a sloped land with a total area of more than 8000 m2. The Residence consists of 6 Villas. Each of this luxury villa has there own swimming pool and a large garden. All Villas have free view to the sea. The Residence has there own water supply as well as Government supply.

Buying a villa in North Bali and the surrounding area offers affordable investment opportunities for people who would like to enter the market. Whether you are looking for a vacation home that could also realise some rental income, or possibly considering Bali as a retirement destination.

North Bali offer a range of possible solutions from land purchase with a view to building something in the future. Design or project homes to your specification built from local materials. May be you would like a new home with sufficient land for future development, or an existing property that can be developed over time.

The reality of buying a property or land in North Bali compared to your home country is a very different experience.

Tanjung Benoa, otherwise known as Benoa Peninsula, is one of the most prominent attractions in Indonesia, situated on the Bali’s south-eastern coast. Once a small typical fishing village, the destination has now been transformed into one of the most sought after beach resorts in Indonesia. Located to the north of Nusa Dua, Tanjung Benoa is a picturesque five kilometer long peninsula, boasting of a breathtaking landscape consisting of gorgeous white sandy beach, majestic mountains, and incredible coconut plantations.

Further, Tanjung Benoa is only minutes away from some of the most tourist spots in Bali. For instance, it is just 15 minutes drive away from Kuta and about 25 minutes drive from Sanur. Tanjung Benoa is connected by a narrow bustling road packed with a plethora of upscale hotels, private villas, first class restaurants, and elegant open air restaurants.

The prime draw of Tanjung Benoa is unquestionably its stupendous beach with clean safe waters. The beach is truly a mecca for enjoying a number of water sport activities, from parasailing, wind surfing, and jet skiing to snorkeling, banana boat sailing, and reef fishing. Additionally, the beach provides excellent facilities for diving enthusiasts, with a number of certified diving centers. Apart from these, a plethora of shops operate here in order to make you available all types of rental equipments for enjoying several water sport activities.

But, attractions as well as activities that can be enjoyed in Tanjung Benoa are not just beach and its area, but beyond that. Tanjung Benoa also contains a number of other interesting tourist spots. A visit to the destination would not to be complete without taking a tour to Batubulan, a serene as well as calm village which is well-known for its stone carvings.

You can find here a large number of statues displayed in the street starting from Batubulan village to Tegaltamu. Apart from these stone statues, Batubulan is also renowned for its magnificent shrines. Of which, the most popular is Pura Paseh, which is noted for its exquisite art and architecture. The temple is just few blocks away from the main road. Further, Batubulan provides options to shop items such as textiles, handicraft and carved items, and traditional clothing items. There are also some shops conducting traditional Balinese performances such as Barong and Rangda dances.

Nearby Batubulan village is yet another popular tourist spot, namely, Taman Burung, which is an incredible park. Situated to the north of Tegaltamu, Taman Burung is spread across about two hectares of land, and is home to more than 1000 birds of about 250 different species, which in turn are collected from different parts of the world. Birds of paradise, African Hornbill, Bali Starling, Blue and Gold Macaw, and flamingos are just few among the specialties found here.

Also, within in this bird park is a reptile park, with an amazing collection of reptiles that have been primarily collected from different regions of Africa and Indonesia. Among the residents here are piton snake, monitor lizard, komodo, mega snakes, and crocodiles. A fine restaurant and several gift shops can also be found within the park. In short, with these rare bird and reptile species, the park is really worth a visit.

Points of interest in Tanjung Benoa also include the Bali Golf and Country Club, which is in turn is Asia’s one of the most popular golf courses. Equally fabulous would be to take a tour to the quiet port, with village-like atmosphere. Likewise, spiritual travelers should not miss to take a tour to the Chinese Buddhist Temple found here. Further, while your stay at Tanjung Benoa, take a tour to Serangan, otherwise known as Turtle Island. The focal point of this spot is a temple dating back to 16th century.

Above all, Tanjung Benoa is much famed for its world class restaurants serving sumptuous sea food specialties.

When comes to accommodation, Tanjung Benoa allows guests to choose from an array of accommodation choices. As mentioned earlier, many of the hotels in the area are concentrated around the beach area. Many of the hotels and resorts in the area come with a range of options such as double rooms, single rooms, and villas, all of which are attached with amenities such as air conditioning, direct dial telephone, iron and ironing board, television, in-room safe, king-size bed, and round the clock room service. In addition, some of the most sophisticated hotels offer a variety of dining options such as daily theme buffet dinner, beach restaurants, and relaxing bars.

The Accor Group manages Hotels with the Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure, All Seasons, Ibis, Formule 1, Grand Mercure brands and offers services to corporate clients and public institutions: 23 million people in nearly 40 countries use a broad range of services engineered and managed by Accor Services.

Surrounded by the peaceful waters of the Lombok strait and the Bali Sea and flanked by the menacing yet fatherly presence of Guning Agung, Karangasam is a place of emerald beauty with rice fields and jungle-covered mountains dominating every aspect of life. It is just this remoteness that gives the area its charm and its mystery; a slice of Bali chosen by the peace-loving cognoscenti of travellers -middle class and backpacker alike- who wish to enjoy the slow life and allow nature to dominate their every waking moment.

Up until recently the area was difficult to reach because of the poor roads, but with he recently completed by-pass all the way from the airport to just below Padang Bay, what was formerly a 2½ hour trip has been slashed to just over an hour and a half, offering no excuses not to visit and explore the possibilities of this most under-rated and beautiful part of Bali. Development is taking off as a result with many 5 star luxury hotels and villa developments under construction or about to break ground.

Padangbai is a tranquil little fishing village located at the bottom end of Amuk Bay With white sand beaches and clear blue waters, it has many small hotels and restaurants and is home to one of Bali’s few deep-water ports and home to the terminal for the ferries that run to back and forth to Lombok and Nusa Penida around the clock.

Located just up the coast to the north is the small town of Manggis where the big guns of the resort world are to be found. Amankila and Alila, both call Manggis home and offer five-star accommodation and service for those wanting to holiday in unashamed luxury.

A few kilometres further to the north is Candidasa, a small resort town that has a relaxed seaside ambience and sweeping views from the hotels and restaurants built right on the water. Candidasa has developed into a top tourist destination over the years and is the gateway for exploring the rugged interior of the region or the breathtaking underwater world offshore.

Exotiq has two particular projects that they are marketing in the Candi Dasa region offering high returns and top quality builds: The Orion’s Beach Villas and the Emerald bay Villas, both in Candi Dasa, both built on absolute beachfront just north of the AmanKila and Alila hotels.

Emerald Bay Villas is a development of 7 five star villas all on absolute beachfront and on the market for US$1.1 While Orion’s Bay Villas is a development of 7 luxury four-bedroom villas with three on beachfront and four just back from the beach selling for between US$440,000 and US$740,000. More on these spectacular two villa developments in the next instalment.

Choosing the Right Bicycle

As bicycle technology advances through time, choosing the right road bicycles can prove to be a difficult task. There are many things that you have to consider before committing to purchasing a specific bicycle. One thing you need to determine is the type of bike that is right for you and perfect for your need. You have to know your cycling needs, habits, the road you would be cycling on, the road types and the places where you aim to use your bicycle.

If you are new to the cycling world, you might find yourself overwhelmed at how many different types of bicycles there are available nowadays. If you walk into a bicycle shop, you would see an array of designs, brands, and different makes. If you are in such a situation, think of how frequent you would be riding your bike, what kind of riding you would want to do, and what is your budget. From there, you can choose on the different kinds of bikes.

Road Bikes

These bikes are meant for long distance cycling. They have narrow tires which are lightweight so it would be easy for you to save your energy. You don’t have to worry about staying on a static position for hours when on the road since road bicycles, especially women’s road bikes, offer a variety of hand positions.

Mountain Bikes

As their name implies, mountain bikes are more popular for off-road bicycling. Compared to road bicycles, these bikes are extremely strong considering that they would be used on tough roads and terrain. The tires have knobby treads and have good suspension designed to absorb shock.

Hybrid Bikes

When you would most likely use your bike for city riding, then hybrid bikes are for you. These bikes are actually a combination of mountain bikes and road bicycles. Its seats and handlebars are upright, almost like a women’s road bike but it offers more speed than a regular mountain bike.

Comfort Cruiser Bikes

These bikes are also known as touring bikes or beach bikes. They are known for their wide tires, upright handlers, and their gear box. They are used in a relaxed surrounding such as the beach. Unlike women’s road bikes and mountain bikes, these are designed for comfort loving people.

Utility Bikes

Their name says much about where they are usually used. They are made for commuting, running and shopping purposes. They usually have an internal hub gear with middle to heavy weigh tires and frames. Since they are usually parked somewhere, they are equipped with chain guards. Most of these bikes have a basket for commuter purposes.

Folding Bikes

Unlike road bicycles, these bikes have hinges or joints in the frame and handlebar. This permits the bike to be broken down and folded into a more compact size. The wheels are relatively small, of 20 inch or 51cm in diameter or less. They can be takes inside public transport and apartment buildings. However, they usually cost more than ordinary, non-folding bikes.

There are really no fast rules when it comes to choosing the right bike. However, whether you are looking to buy women’s road bikes or any other bicycles, your local bicycle shop would be there to help you and advice you in making the right decision.

Everyone always says ?I know what I need?, but there?s a women’s road bikes
out there for every purpose! When considering your new purchase, you should first consider the type of riding you would do and where most of it will be done.

Bali blinds come in a wide array of colors in both vinyl and aluminum window blinds. You can choose vertical or mini blinds depending on the look you want to achieve in each room of your home. For a special coordinated look, contrast Bali vertical blinds with horizontal Bali blinds in the same room. The type of blind you choose will, of course, depend on the size and shape of your window, but you can get Bali blinds custom made to suit irregularly shaped windows as well.

If you choose vinyl vertical blinds in the Bali style, the slats are 1 inch wide. For horizontal aluminum Bali blinds the slats are larger – 2 inches wide. One inch vinyl Bali vertical blinds or mini blinds are perfect for the bathroom or kitchen window or another room of the home where they may be high levels of humidity on times. These Bali window blinds come with a light-blocking head rail, but it doesn’t have a valance. It is designed so that you can install it between the window facings. If you wish you can have a cloth valance over the top of the Bali blind.

For a more contemporary look, try the sleek ½ inch micro aluminum Bali blinds. Both these and the 1 inch aluminum Bali window blinds come in an amazing array of colors. The aluminum blinds by Bali contain an advanced finishing technology so that they will resist dust and dirt and are easy to clean. They are also hard to dent or scratch, so that if you want to peep out the window without raising the blind, you can pull the slats apart a tiny bit.

To care for and clean your Bali blinds, regular vacuuming will do the trick. If you notice a stain on one or more of the slats, you can easily wash them off with lukewarm water and a mild cleaner. If you have Bali vertical blinds, you can take out the vanes individually and let them soak in water or lay them flat to wash them off. You may be surprised to learn that if you leave a thin film of detergent on the vanes, it will help eliminate static electricity. Therefore, there is no need to rinse your Bali window blinds completely.

Bali blinds are very durable and will provide you with the window coverings you want for many years. Along with giving you the privacy you need, you can choose to completely block out the light or allow some light to filter through the window blinds. Browse the catalog of Bali blinds to see all the different kinds available and to read about the features of each one.

If you are looking for some real luxury adventure, then Bali is one of the most appropriate choices in the world. Bali, an icon of tourism in Indonesia has attracted almost 1.9 million foreign tourist visitors along with domestic tourist of 5 million people in year 2008, making tourism the most flourished industry of this place

Its’ numerable long stretched beaches, towering mountains, beautiful sunsets all add to memorable experience of the visitors. Highly rich in cultural diversity, Balinese dance is the most interesting dance experienced in various places of Bali, not forgetting to mention the famous Kecak dance which is highly appreciated by all tourists.

The religion mostly common in Bali is Hinduism, where you can see Balinese women practicing religious and cultural rituals every now and then, providing a peaceful & serene environment to the overall place. Gail George 55, a recent visitor comments after her Bali visit, “I love Bali because it’s an assault on the senses. It is colorful and the people resonate a feeling of calm, which carries on to you.”

Bali is also known for its thousands of resorts, villas and fabulous cuisines. During my recent visit I stayed in one of the most luxurious hotel of South East Asia, called with a fancy name as Damai Lovina Villas. Although me and my friend, we just spent two nights there but we both knew that we had fallen in love with the place. Located ideally over the Lovina bay, just few hours from Ngurah Rai airport, the hotel offered us the most personal treatment with organic food, comfortable accommodation and a great view at affordable rates.

We have read in travel magazines that Bali is one of the most enchanting travel and holiday destination but experiencing it for real was an overall new feeling. As the sun dips behind the huge peaks, the rich culture, the elegant dance and serenity all become a part of an experience that can never fade away with time.

Among the stationary bicycles, the recumbent bicycles have been more popular than the upright ones. The recumbent bicycles came in the limelight only when the world record for the highest speed in a land bicycle was set in a recumbent bicycle. The recumbent bicycles had been dragged in various controversies. The officials of the race concluded that the recumbent bicycle won by unfair means. This resulted in the banning of the recumbent bikes from any such races.

The recumbent bicycles are now back with a bang. They are one of the most popular sorts of workout equipments in recent times. You will get more options in terms of configuration in the recumbent bicycle. It is not only safer, but also faster. The comfort level in a recumbent bicycle is greater than all other bicycles.

The recumbent bicycles have a chair for the rider. The pedals are placed in front, rather than at a lower spot. The rider has a back rest, which makes them highly comfortable. The posture in which the rider is seated does not lay stress on his or her back or wrists. Recumbent bicycles are perfect both for working out as well as for going out on long tours. Recumbent bicycles are recommended by many doctors as a treatment for physical ailments. They are best suited for cardio workouts.

The recumbent bicycles also have a few disadvantages. They are heavier on the pocket as compared to a conventional bicycle. The price of the recumbent bicycles is being brought down owing to its increased demands. Balancing on a recumbent bicycle is a little difficult. Recumbent cycles do not allow you to stand on the pedal while you are riding up a hilly slope. Recumbent bicycles cannot turn taking narrow radius.

There are a variety of recumbent bicycles that you can choose from. One of the famous types recumbent is the Recumbent Tricycle. It has two wheels at the rear end and one in front. The front wheel is used to steer. There is enough room for incorporating a second seat in the end.

The Tandem Recumbent has also created ripples in the market. It has reclined seats and is build on a normal tandem bicycle. You can get both bicycles and tricycles of this tandem model. This kind of recumbent bicycle is the best option for all the couples who want to have a great time working out together.

The Low Racer is one such bike that can be used in races. They categorize under bikes with limitations of mobility. In a bid to enhance the performance of the recumbent bicycle, the seats have been lowered. Since this type of recumbent bicycle is used in races, a wind shield is sometimes attached to it to avoid strong winds.

If like me, you have been bitten by the ‘Holiday Villa Bug’, you will already know that no hotel can match the privacy and luxury of a good Villa Holiday. The great news is that today there are even more villa rental options out there than ever before. Not to mention the fact that if you know how to choose the right holiday rental villa you will be saving a lot of money in comparison to the same level of service in a comparable quality hotel.

It seems that no where in the world has seen as big an explosion of luxury fully serviced holiday villas, as the island of Bali in Indonesia.

OK, I happen to be blessed with a great line of work, as a Travel Writer, and have been lucky enough to stay in some of the best tropical resorts around the world, especially in Asia. But still for me, nothing compares to the peace, luxury and delights (not to mention the cost effectiveness) of staying in a good serviced villa in Bali.

So, what makes a ‘good holiday villa’?

Like everyone else, I have learned how to choose the perfect villa through luck, some mistakes and sheer experience.

Here are my top tips for choosing the right villa in Bali for your next Bali holiday.

Location-Location-Location

This sounds obvious, but it is not always easy to make the right location decision when we are sat at home, far away from our holiday destination.

Like every other world-class holiday destination, Bali offers a range of options, from ‘central’ locations, to those which offer ‘absolute tranquility’.

I personally like a balance between the two. On a Bali villa holiday, the last thing one needs is to be sooo central that you feel like you are an extension of a night club’s base unit till wee hours of the morning. On the other hand, I really don’t want to be more than 15-20 minutes away from where the restaurants, shops and the action is. I like my villa to be certainly quiet, preferably amongst rice fields, but at the same time accessible (within 30 minutes of the airport, and a few minutes from the action).

The great thing is that Bali caters for all of these tastes.

Those seeking a central location, with a lively night life may want to look into Legian and Seminyak, (I exclude Kuta area from this list, as there are hardly any proper rental villas left in this bustling tourist centre).

Those who don’t mind a bit of a trek, and don’t want to go out and about much during their holiday, may opt for areas such as Uluwatu or Canggu and beyond.

For me the perfect choice is Kerobokan and Umalas areas. Quiet rural environment, surrounded by rice terraces and real villagers going about their real daily routines (instead of trying to push you a handicraft (Kuta) or pull you into a restaurant you really couldn’t care for (Seminyak)).

Quality and Availability of Service

Now this is an area where villas differ from each other immensely. In Bali most villas proclaim to be ‘fully serviced’. However, how ‘fully’ and how ‘serviced’ range from the most basic to being totally pampered.

A good villa should provide a guest to total staff ratio of nearly 1 to 1, or at least 1.5 to 1. So, if you are a group of 8 you should be looking at, at least, 5-6 full time staff, or for a group of 4 at least 3-4 full time staff. Sounds ostentatiously high? It really isn’t once you consider the effort it takes to keep a holiday villa, its gardens, and the pool in a tip-top shape.

Of course, quantity is never the only answer. The staff needs to be full-time and fully-trained at a professional level. There are too many villas out there, which are run by ‘part-time’ managers and staff who actually have other full time jobs elsewhere!

Your Own Chef

One of the great pleasures of traveling to a foreign destination is to experiment with and experience the local cuisine. And what better place to experience this, than in the comfort of your own villa!

So, make sure that your villa comes with its own Chef. Once you have tasted the delights of enjoying home cooking in your own villa, you will probably not want to venture out to restaurants at all. The best thing is, having your own private villa Chef in Bali, is substantially cheaper than eating out.

However, make sure to check how the Chef arrangement works.

Ideally, the Chef cost should be included in your rental rate. In this case all you have to pay for are the cost of the ingredients which are purchased for you, typically at the local market/supermarket prices, with no mark-up. So, financials of eating at your own villa becomes just like eating at home, but without lifting a finger, and at substantially lower Bali prices.

Some villas claim to offer a Chef service, but charge restaurant/hotel prices for each dish that the chef prepares for you. I prefer to avoid these, as I can always pop out to a restaurant if I so wished anyway.

So, check to make sure that the Chef is part of your villa team, and that you will not be charged incrementally for food on a per item basis.

Your Villa Manager

A professional Villa Manager makes a huge difference to your enjoyment of your holiday. Even if you have been to Bali many times before, a good Villa Manager can be a much valued life-line, a great source of shopping tips, and a problem solver. A good villa manager can provide a wealth of directions/advice, from where to eat, to which river to choose for your white-water rafting adventure in which season, or where the cheapest golf courses are, to which temples to visit to see which local ceremonies.

Needless to say, they should also be managing the villa team, and making sure that the quality of service and cleanliness are never compromised.

Before I book a villa in Bali, I always check to see what the Villa Manager arrangement is like, and that there is a full time Villa Manager on site at the villa I am planning to rent. Typically, for good villas, you can expect to have your own dedicated Villa Manager, or have a Villa Manager who is working at 2-3 adjacent villas. However, if a Villa Manager is expected to look after 5-6+ villas, then you are most likely not going to see him for more than a few minutes a day, only during his courtesy visits (at best), so you loose out on the real benefits of having the inside-track.

Villa Quality & Upkeep

Be very, very weary of any rental villas which can not provide you with more than at least 20 recent photos of the property. These photos should show you not only the outside of the buildings, but also the living/dining areas, as well as insides of bedrooms.

If you are not provided with a sufficient number of photos giving you a clear idea of the property, then it is quite likely that there is something substantially wrong with the property, such as a building overlooking it, an abattoir next door, or at the least peeling paintwork or missing fixtures/furniture.

Remember, not all villas are created equal. But additionally, not all villas are kept and maintained equally well. It is your right to request and see these photos of the property.

Mod-Cons

OK, you are planning to stay on a tiny island, in the middle of the tropics. What mod-cons should you expect?

From own experience, I would suggest that even in the middle of the tropics, good Bali villas should be able to provide at least the following mod-cons:

Air-conditioning in all bedrooms

Clean, Western style kitchen -fully equipped with a fridge, microwave, electric kettle, and a coffee maker, as well as sufficient crockery and cutlery

Safe deposit box – at least one for your private villa use, and preferably one in each bedroom

TV/Satellite/DVD Player – as there will always be someone who wants to catch the news, or children who will need entertaining

Telephone – whilst many of us live attached to our mobile/cellular phones, it is important that there is a permanent phone connection at the villa, in case of emergencies

En-suite bathrooms – if you are looking at going as a family or a group of friends, you really don’t want to spend your holiday in Bali queuing for the next available slot at shared facilities!

Enjoying a fully staffed and serviced villa with your own Chef may seem like an un-attainable dream in most other parts of the world. However, renting a Villa in Bali is by far one of the most cost effective ways of enjoying this beautiful island and the company of its hospitable people.

Now armed with this check-list you are ready to plan you next dream holiday in a Villa in Bali.

Like me, you will probably never want to leave, and go back to reality!

Many happy returns…

The tropical Indonesian island of Bali is still attracts millions of tourists every year. Tourists on vacations to Bali are attracted by the mystique, charms and allure of the predominantly traditional Hindu culture, spectacular tropical jungles, mountains and beautiful beaches. Many tourists especially from nearby Australia and Singapore travel to Bali for scuba Diving. The islands in Bali are well known for its excellent scuba diving locations.

Scuba divers in Bali can expect to encounter awesome underwater landscape as well as sighting a very wide array of marine sea creatures. Let’s visit some scuba diving Bali dive spots.

In Nusa Penida and Lembongan Islands, there are spectacular drop off reefs making reef and wall diving the predominant staple on these two scuba diving locations. It takes about a 45 minute speedboat ride to reach these dive destinations.

Water visibility is excellent all year round but the current here is stronger. Experienced divers will love it here as they can enjoy some drift dives. However, the current may get very strong occasionally and dives may have to be abandoned when this happens.

The dive sites at Nusa Dua and Sanur are just 5 minutes away from the coast and therefore easily assessable. The novice divers will love these dive spots because of the gentle current. Water visibility ranges from low to moderate since they are located in the coastal area and are more affected by pollution. Although hard coral life is limited, the dive spots have a surprisingly diversity of marine fishes, soft corals and sponges which are thriving on the reefs.

There is a very wide variety of corals, colorful sea fans and huge pelagic fishes here. Big schools of sweet lips fish, turtles, sharks and manta rays are often sighted by excited scuba divers.

Jemeluk and Amed Beaches are one and half hour away from Denpasar. Denpasar is a popular tourist coastal town with many wonderful hotels, resorts and night entertainment. Scuba divers need to be very experienced as the current here can get very strong. However the dives here can be very exciting because of long coastal reefs, reef slopes/drop offs and majestic wall diving. Water visibility can be considered as moderate to good. To add a final touch, these dive spots have one of the best hard coral communities in Bali.

The Tulamben Wreck Dive is a must dive spot for scuba divers to enjoy wreck diving. The water visibility here is fair to good and the current is gentle. Night dive on this wreck are often described as breathtaking.

The wreck, USS Liberty which met its fate in 1942 when a Japanese torpedo fired from a submarine in the second world war found its target.

The above are just some of the many splendid scuba diving destinations in Bali. For more superb dive sites, just contact the many scuba diving operators in Bali Island.
